Fresh off a Big 12 championship, the Arizona State Sun Devils have high expectations heading into the 2025 college football season.
ASU is one of five teams projected to be favorites in each of its regular-season games next season, via Brett McMurphy.
With the season still a month away, the original projections (released by Brad Powers of the BetTheBoard podcast) are subject to change. Nonetheless, the Sun Devils will have a chance to repeat as conference champions.
Despite losing star running back Cam Skattebo to the NFL Draft, the ASU offense returns several key players, including quarterback Sam Leavitt and wide receiver Jordyn Tyson.
The duo showed strong chemistry last season, as Tyson recorded 75 catches for 1,101 yards. 41.7% of Leavitt’s touchdown passes were thrown to the star wide receiver.
Last season marked ASU’s first year competing in the Big 12 Conference, finishing 11-3 and earning a spot in the College Football Playoff.
Although early projections show that the Sun Devils are expected to dominate through the regular season, the team is less than a one-score favorite in six games. This shows the competitiveness of the Big 12.
ASU will kick off its season with three straight non-conference matchups, including Northern Arizona on Aug. 30, followed by Mississippi State on Sept. 6 and Texas State on Sept. 13.
The team will then begin its conference schedule in a matchup with the Baylor Bears on Sept. 20.
