TEMPE — Arizona State has strengthened its receiving corps with the addition of Northern Illinois transfer Akim Lanieux, a 6-foot-7 wide receiver who committed to the Sun Devils as of Tuesday.

Lanieux brings with him a rare blend of size and athleticism to Tempe, making him a great addition to go against Big 12 competition. He appeared in nine games for Northern Illinois in 2024, recording 20 receptions for 378 yards and two touchdowns, averaging 18.9 yards per catch.

Before his time at NIU, Lanieux played at Dodge City Community College. A native of Plaquemine, Louisiana, he also competed in high jump during high school, showcasing his vertical athleticism.

Lanieux’s arrival adds a new dimension to Arizona State’s offense under head coach Kenny Dillingham, who continues to reshape and bolster the roster with size and versatility at the skill position. His height and catch radius could make him a valuable target for Sam Leavitt and matchup challenges for opposing defenses.

The Sun Devils, entering another big season with the Big 12, have been active in the transfer portal, aiming to enhance their competitiveness in the conference.
