According to On3’s Bryan Munson, Scott decided to attend Nebraska because of his relationship with Cornhuskers quarterback commit Dayton Raiola, who is the brother of current Nebraska quarterback Dylan Raiola.
“Oh yeah, Dayton played a major role,” Scott said. “I would also say my family ended up getting close with Dayton and Dylan Raiola, too. Me and Dayton have a good relationship since the first time I visited Nebraska.”
This delivers a tough blow to the Sun Devils, as Scott was their second-highest ranked recruit in the 2026 recruiting class, according to 247Sports. This decommitment drops their 2026 class ranking to 33rd, a disappointing setback given their highly successful 2024 season that Sun Devils fans had hoped would attract a slew of top recruits.
Scott could have marked the start of an exceptionally exciting 2026 class for ASU. However, there’s still time to build a class around top Sun Devils commit Jake Fette, the eighth-ranked quarterback recruit in the nation, according to 247Sports’ composite rankings.
Their 2026 class also features two top three-star recruits, running back Cardae Mack and EDGE Julian Hugo. Both are rated an “89” by 247Sports, just below their threshold for a four-star recruit (90-97).
Overall, this isn’t a make-or-break development for ASU’s 2026 class. Still, with star receiver Jordyn Tyson likely leaving for the draft after the upcoming season, wide receivers coach Hines Ward will need to aggressively pursue 2026 receivers to fill the hole Tyson will leave.
