TEMPE — Arizona State’s addition of running back Kanye Udoh is garnering national attention as the Sun Devils prepare for the 2025 college football season. ESPN has highlighted Udoh as a top newcomer for the team, which enters the season ranked No. 12 in the “Way-Too-Early Top 25” rankings.
The transfer from Army brings a strong resume to Tempe. In the 2024 season, he rushed 1,117 yards and 10 touchdowns on 179 carries, averaging 6.2 yards per attempt. His performance included standout games, such as a 158 yards games against Air Force and then again versus Tulane.
The Sun Devils’ backfield underwent changes following the departure of Cam Skattebo, who logged 293 carries last season. Udoh’s arrival is expected to bolster the running game, providing depth and experience. ESPN notes that he will help with “the continuation of a ground-and-pound-offense,” but they will have Kyson Brown and Raheem Brown there to back him up.
Arizona State’s rise in the ranking reflects the team’s strong recruiting and transfer acquisitions, including Udoh’s addition. As the Sun Devils aim to build on their success, Udoh’s role in the offense will be a key factor to watch.
