Arkansas Razorbacks football fans received disappointing news Thursday, as head coach Sam Pittman announced wide receiver Ismael Cisse is likely done for the 2025 season due to a wrist injury.

“He tore some ligaments in that wrist,” Pittman told reporters during SEC Media Days. “Probably will be a season-ending surgery that he had last Friday.”

The injury occurred during a routine weightlifting session, specifically while performing a power clean. Losing Cisse is tough news for the Razorbacks. The Denver, Colorado, native transferred from the Stanford Cardinal in January and quickly became a reliable target, regularly running with the first team offense throughout spring drills.

Last year for the Cardinal, Cisse was productive, hauling in 26 catches for 241 yards and two touchdowns, highlighted by an eight-catch, 79-yard game with one touchdown against the Cal Poly Mustangs.

Arkansas has been busy this offseason, bringing in seven new transfer portal wide receivers out of 31 total incoming transfers to help revamp its team heading into 2025. Expectations are rising as Pittman looks to bounce back after an uneven 2024 season and contend strongly in the highly competitive SEC West.

Adding optimism for the future, Arkansas' 2026 recruiting class is shaping up nicely, ranked within the top 30 nationally per Rivals' team recruiting rankings. Highlighted by commitments from four blue-chip prospects, the Razorbacks are clearly building momentum for sustained success.

Still, losing an impact player like Cisse stings. Arkansas will lean heavily on its other transfer additions to step up immediately, aiming to keep its goals intact for the upcoming season.

Pittman and the Razorbacks have their sights set on returning to a bowl game, a goal the program has achieved three times during Pittman's five-year tenure at Arkansas.
