There is no doubt that the potential Taylee Green has, is much higher than the one that former Arkansas Razorback quarterback K.J. Jefferson had, or has. Green is uber talented, it’s just about putting it all together.
In 2024, many knew nothing about Green or what we would be seeing in terms of him playing in the SEC. He came from Boise State, and there he was a pretty decent quarterback. He was was still young and still needed to develop into the quarterback we all think he can be.
His ability to extend plays, run the ball and pull on options plays, and really just always make something out of nothing, are traits that should have him being talked about as one of the best QBs in the SEC.
But, for some reason, no one is talking about him in that way. Sure, his 2024 season left a lot to be desired. But, now that we know what we know, or what we heard from a coach, it’s safe to say his 2025 season just got put on notice even more.
The Arkansas Razorbacks are a bit of a wildcard in the SEC this season, mainly because no one really knows if they will be good or bad due to all of the transfer outs and transfer ins. This is almost a completely different team, especially on offense, than the one they had last year.
But, if Taylen Green has a huge season, there is no doubt in my mind that they could be in for a big season themselves, because of how good the defense is projected to be.
And for Green, last year was an okay season, but there’s now new information out about his season last year that should only make fans feels really good going into 2025.
“One thing I do want to tell you all, you don’t understand how bad Taylen [Green] was hurt last year. This year, especially the last half of the season, I’d watch out, the kid has worked his butt off. We have kind of kept it in-house, but he’s a tough sucker,” Arkansas football strength and conditioning coach Ben Sowders said on Thursday.
“What he dealt with the last seven games of our season, in the bowl game, a lot of people wouldn’t play. I’ll just leave it at that, I don’t want to put his info out there. But, he’s put on 10 pounds, looks like it, and his speed, he is now — the last two weeks of summer, is really trending up. He’s only going to get better, too.”

If he was extremely hurt all year last season, and he was still doing the things he was doing, then 2025 should be something special, right? He wasn’t bad last year — let me preface that. He just made mistakes too often that sometimes made you think “what is he doing.”
But, we see that from young players all the time, even Arch Manning last season. That doesn’t mean he won’t be good. And, to learn that he was hurt and played through everything, and now he’s healthy, is huge news for the Razorbacks.
And, now everyone is going to be watching to see what he does in 2025, and if it’s what we think it will be, he could be saving Sam Pittman’s career at Arkansas.
