TEMPE – The biggest name this NFL draft season for Arizona State football is superstar running back Cam Skattebo. After a monstrous senior season, where he ran over 1,700 rushing yards, Skattebo has earned the opportunity to play on Sunday. However, there has been controversy surrounding the Sun Devil halfback, as he elected not to run the 40-yard dash at the NFL combine. Skattebo only did the vertical jump and board jump in Indianapolis, bringing up questions about how detrimental his speed was compared to other running backs in the draft.
Those doubts were silenced at ASU football’s training facility, where NFL scouts and teammates watched Skattebo finally run the 40-yard dash and post an impressive time.

Skattebo ran a reported 4.53-4.57, according to NFL scouts in attendance. The video was posted by ASU running back Kyson Brown’s Instagram, where he’s cheering on his former teammate. The Sun Devils began Spring practice on Tuesday, where Skattebo was in attendance to cheer on his Alma Mater and showcase his elite speed to scouts.
The 40-yard dash footage and time will help Skattebo’s draft stock, as he is currently projected to be drafted on Day 2 of the NFL Draft or Round 4 of Day 3. Skattebo finished top five in Heisman voting last year and is still proving the doubters wrong with a stellar 40-yard dash time.
