The Auburn Tigers enter Week 2 as 43.5-point favorites over the Ball State Cardinals, according to ESPN BET.
Unfortunately, during their Week 1 victory over the Baylor Bears, several members of the Tigers got dinged up, including senior running back Damari Alston.
On Monday, head coach Hugh Freeze stated the running back was dealing with a shoulder injury after the Baylor matchup.
It put his availability against Ball State in question, and on Thursday, an official decision was made.
While speaking to reporters, Freeze revealed Alston was officially ruled out against the Cardinals, according to On3's Justn Hokanson

It's a big loss for the Tigers' offense, after a solid Week 1 performance from Alston, rushing the ball 16 times for 84 yards and one touchdown.
2025 has a chance to be a serious breakout year for him, combining for just 130 carries, 681 yards and five touchdowns in his first three seasons with Auburn.
Before the season kicked off, he even gained some recognition from his fellow teammates, being one of four players chosen as season-long captains.
"Four very deserving guys," Freeze said, according to The Montgomery Advertisers' Adam Cole. "I celebrate them, and it's a great honor."
That leaves a sizeable hole at one of the offense's most important positions, and Alston isn't someone who could be easily replaced.
However, Auburn will have to do its best, and according to AL.com's Jerry Humphrey III, junior running back Jeremiah Cobb is expected to get the start.
Cobb is far from a bad option, also putting together a strong stat line against Baylor with 16 carries, 74 yards and one touchdown.
Luckily for the Tigers, this is a low-risk game against Ball State, and even though losing Alston at all isn't ideal, it likely won't make or break the matchup.
