The Texas Tech football program is still in search of its first Big 12 title, and with a revamped roster in 2025, the Red Raiders will be in the mix to win the conference.

With college football kicking off in just a few weeks, On3’s Pete Nakos ranked the top 10 quarterbacks facing the most pressure in 2025 . Texas Tech quarterback Behren Morton came in at No. 10 on the list.

Last season, the Red Raiders ranked first in offense, but 15th in defense in the conference, finishing 8-5. Head coach Joey McGuire added firepower defensively, securing the commitments from David Bailey and Lee Hunter.

With several offensive talents from last season’s roster returning, alongside the addition of running back Quinten Joyner, expectations are very high in Lubbock.

Morton is coming off an efficient performance in 2024, throwing for 3,335 yards and 27 touchdowns. He completed 63.3% of his passes and tossed just eight interceptions.

The program has a favorable schedule this season, as PFF noted that the Red Raiders have the second-easiest schedule in the country. The team will take on Kent State (0-13 in 2024) in a non-conference battle early in the season before Big 12 play.

TTU will take on five Big 12 teams that had a losing record last season.

Texas Tech has not finished with more than eight wins since 2009 and has not been ranked in the AP Top 25 Poll since 2018. Morton and company will begin the 2025 season against Arkansas-Pine Bluff on Aug. 30.
