More Alabama Crimson Tide transfers are finding new homes ahead of Christmas and that includes another outgoing wideout.
On3 Sports' Pete Nakos reported on Monday that Emmanuel Henderson Jr. will transfer to Kansas. He follows cornerback Jahlil Hurley as the second Alabama player to transfer to KU during this cycle and will have one year of eligibility remaining with the Jayhawks.
A former top 100 prospect out of Hartford, AL, Henderson was the eighth-highest-rated prospect in the Crimson Tide's 2022 recruiting class that ranked No. 2 in the entire country. However, the Geneva County High School product didn't contribute much through his three seasons in Tuscaloosa, logging just five receptions for 96 yards through 33 career game appearances.
His biggest highlight came early this season, when he hauled in a 34-yard pass to get Alabama into the red zone during the team's 41-34 victory over Georgia on September 28. He would officially jump into the transfer portal on December 16, joining Caleb Odom, Kendrick Law, and Kobe Prentice on the list of Tide receivers to depart from Tuscaloosa in the offseason.
Now Lawrence bound, Henderson should get an opportunity for a bigger role on a Jayhawks team that went 5-7 in 2024. Veteran quarterback Jalon Daniels is set to return next season and should he stay healthy, the offense has the potential to be a threat in the Big 12 with a veteran pass-catcher like Henderson making contributions.
Meanwhile, Alabama has already gotten active in trying to patch some of the holes in its receiver room, with Miami transfer Isaiah Horton committing to the Crimson Tide this past weekend. The team has been in the running for top targets like NC State's Kevin Concepcion, and we should expect more receiver commitments within the coming weeks.
