The Alabama Crimson Tide are still fishing the transfer portal for wide receiver depth and are on the radar of a big target.
On3Sports' Pete Nakos reported on Thursday that former Miami wide receiver Isaiah Horton has scheduled visits for both Alabama and Texas A&M. Horton officially entered the transfer portal on Wednesday and is expected to arrive to Tuscaloosa on Thursday evening. Both On3 and 247Sports have both projected the Crimson Tide to land the transfer wideout.
A Murfreesboro, TN, native, Horton was a four-star prospect in the 2022 recruiting class and chose Miami over the likes of Alabama and Tennessee. He played a minor role through his first two years with the Hurricanes before experiencing a breakout campaign this season, hauling in 56 receptions for 616 yards and five touchdowns on a team that barely missed the College Football Playoff.
With wideouts Xavier Restrepo and Jacolby George leaving after this season, Horton did have the opportunity to cement himself as UM's top pass catcher in 2025. Instead, he opted to hit the exits as well and jumped into the transfer portal this week.
As mentioned before, the major recruiting services have already linked Horton to Alabama and his weekend trip to Tuscaloosa may seal the deal. At 6-foot-4, 205 pounds, the big pass-catching target would be a welcome addition to a Crimson Tide wide receiver room that has bled talent over the past few weeks.
Kobe Prentice, Kendrick Law, Caleb Odom, and Emmanuel Henderson Jr. have all entered the transfer portal, leaving Freshman All-American Ryan Williams and Germie Bernard as the only reliable returning receiver options at the moment. The staff is still waiting to hear back from former NC State wide receiver Kevin Concepcion about where he'll sign for next season, but a commitment from Horton would be huge news in the meantime.
