The relationship between Bill Belichick and Jordon Hudson has dominated headlines in recent weeks, and the North Carolina coach seemed to answered a big question about his girlfriend on Tuesday.
Belichick is in Amelia Island, Fla., this week for the ACC’s annual spring meetings. During a Tuesday appearance on ESPN’s “SportsCenter,” the six-time Super Bowl champion was asked how he believes the gossip surrounding him and Hudson has impacted his ability to coach the Tar Heels.
Belichick had a telling response.
“I mean, that’s really off to the side. It’s a personal relationship. She doesn’t have anything to do with UNC football,” Belichick said. “I’m excited to be back in the coaches meetings and getting ready for June and then August when we get to training camp. June will be a big recruiting month for us, and then August we’ll start to get ready for the season.”

Belichick could have avoided the question altogether, but it is noteworthy that he said Hudson has nothing to do with UNC football.
Hudson has been operating as somewhat of a public relations manager for Belichick in recent months. We saw that with the way the 24-year-old awkwardly interrupted Belichick’s recent CBS interview. Hudson was also spotted on the UNC practice field last month was said to be advising the school’s media team.
Things took an even crazier turn this week when Pablo Torre reported that Hudson has been banned from UNC’s football facility. North Carolina officials immediately responded by insisting the 24-year-old Hudson is still welcome around the Tar Heels, though they said Hudson is not an employee of the school.
There has been some speculation that Belichick may not even coach a game for UNC, as the coach’s buyout reduces to just $1 million on June 1. Belichick indicated on Tuesday that he is fully committed to the program. He also seems determined to draw a line between his personal life and his job, though it would be an understatement to say he has contributed to the blurring of said line.
