Pablo Torre has managed to make himself the authority on all matters related to Bill Belichick and Jordon Hudson, and that has apparently been a source of huge frustration for Bill Simmons.
Simmons was discussing an unrelated topic during the latest episode of his “The Rewatchables” podcast when he decided to take aim at Torre. The podcast, which was released on Tuesday, was mostly about the 1978 film “Heaven Can Wait.” That movie features a character named Leo Farnsworth.
Simmons worked Torre into the conversation by joking that the former ESPN host would have done an entire podcast about Farnsworth “and then done a media tour about it afterwards.” The lifelong Boston sports fan then really began ripping Torre.
“I’ve never seen anybody dine on a stupider story for a week and a half while pretending you’re a journalist. What the f– was that? Seriously,” Simmons said. “Oh, Belichick’s dating a girl, let me do nine shows about it. Settle the f– down.”
One of Simmons’ co-hosts then asked if Simmons would be as aggravated about Torre’s reporting if it were about someone like Philadelphia Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie. The implication was that Simmons, a huge New England Patriots fan, is biased because he loves Belichick so much.
“You don’t have to do a media tour about a f–ing podcast. Maybe do two shows about it,” Simmons added.
You can hear the clip, but be aware that it contains cursing:

Torre has dug harder than anyone into Belichick’s relationship with Hudson. The story has been of huge interest for quite some time because of the age gap between the two, as Belichick is 73 and Hudson is 24.
The spotlight on Belichick’s relationship with Hudson became even brighter last month when Belichick sat down for an interview with Tony Dokoupil of “CBS Mornings.” Hudson sat nearby during the interview and was described by CBS’ narrator as a “constant presence.” She awkwardly interrupted at one point when Belichick was asked about how he and Hudson met (video here).
Torre claimed a few weeks ago that there is “absolutely a real chance” that Belichick will never end up coaching a game at North Carolina. He made that claim after reporting that UNC had banned Hudson from their football facility.
North Carolina officials immediately responded by insisting Hudson is still welcome around the Tar Heels.
Though all signs point to Belichick remaining the head coach at UNC, Torre has stood by all of his reporting.
Torre has gotten so into the Belichick-Hudson drama that he even tracked down the Airbnb that Belichick emerged from shirtless on an infamous Ring camera video that surfaced in 2023.
After locating the Airbnb, Torre booked a stay and spoke with the owners of the property about how the Belichick video leaked. The owners made some shockingly candid admissions while sharing their side of the story.
Simmons is right that Torre has gone deep into the weeds with his Belichick-Hudson reporting, but it has obviously been worthwhile for Torre.
Torre responded to Simmons on Monday by requesting an interview with his fellow former ESPN employee.
“Since you have such a strong public opinion about my work… I happen to have a few questions for you, specifically. Unless you’re afraid of @pablofindsout and someone just “pretending to be a journalist,” of course,” Torre wrote on X.

Since you have such a strong public opinion about my work… I happen to have a few questions for you, specifically.
Unless you’re afraid of @pablofindsout and someone just “pretending to be a journalist,” of course.
Thanks,
