Bill O'Brien and the Eagles struck out on the recruiting trail on Thursday, missing out on a talented 2026 prospect from the east coast.
3-Star cornerback and Boston College target Jordyn Best out of Ridge View High School in Columbia, South Carolina officially announced his commitment to NC State. He made his announcement on an Instagram livestream, choosing the Wolfpack over Boston College, Georgia Tech and Syracuse.

Standing at 5-foot-11, 180 lbs., the South Carolina product is ranked as the No. 74 player at his position in the nation and the No. 14 player in the state, according to 247Sports' composite ranking. As a junior in 2024 he finished with 22 tackles, 3.0 TFL's and two interceptions in just nine games.
Best also suits up for his high school's track and field team and holds a personal record of 10.53 seconds in the 100 meter and 21.63 seconds in the 200 meter. He is a speedy prospect that makes up for his slight lack of size with his excellent athleticism.
Although missing out on a player like Best is of course less than ideal, Boston College holds 27 commits in the 2026 recruiting class and is pushing for largest class in the ACC. The North Carolina Tar Heels hold a slight lead over the Eagles, but regardless, O'Brien and the staff have done an excellent job acquiring talent this offseason.
