Why Lafayette Will Win

The Leopards lost a slew of big parts from last year's offense, but there's just enough in place to at least keep up the pace for a half against a reworked Falcon defense - at least in the back seven/eight. But to do this, it's about the defense coming up with something special.

George and his coaching staff got a well-stocked cupboard on the lines.

The offensive and defensive fronts won't be dominant, but both sides are experienced and deep. Former Tennessee State defensive coordinator Brandon Fisher will get this line in the backfield enough to own third downs.

The goal here is to use this game as a tune-up, but when things get tight, it'll be easy to pound away a bit with JUCO transfer Chris McMillian and 220-pound Mar'Kel Porter.

Lafayette was excellent last season in turnover margin and should be good enough not to screw up too much. As long as the Falcons don't make a ton of mistakes, everything should be fine.

It'll take a half to get comfortable, and then the Falcons will take over and pull away.
