Bryce Young tops Spencer Rattler in latest Heisman Trophy odds

Week 1 of the college football season is complete, and some of the top quarterbacks in the country thrived, including Alabama signal-caller Bryce Young, who led the Crimson Tide to a blowout victory over Miami.

On Sunday, the latest Heisman Trophy odds were released, and Young passed Oklahoma's Spencer Rattler as the favorite to win college football's most prestigious award.

Here are the latest odds via DraftKings Sportsbook:

  1. Bryce Young (QB, Alabama): +500
  2. Spencer Rattler (QB, Oklahoma): +750
  3. DJ Uiagalelei (QB, Clemson): +1100
  4. CJ Stroud (QB, Ohio State): +1200
  5. JT Daniels (QB, Georgia): +1400
  6. Matt Corral (QB, Ole Miss): +1500
  7. Sam Howell (QB, North Carolina): +2500
  8. Bijan Robinson (RB, Texas): +2500
  9. Desmond Ridder (QB, Cincinnati): +2800
  10. Emory Jones (QB, Florida): +3000

Young was arguably the most impressive quarterback of the weekend, completing 27-of-38 passes for 344 yards and four touchdowns in Alabama's 44-13 win.

Rattler's performance wasn't as strong, and he got out to a rough start, throwing an interception on Oklahoma's first drive of the game against Tulane. The 20-year-old completed 30-of-39 passes for 304 yards, two total touchdowns and two interceptions. The Sooners barely beat the Green Wave 40-35.

At the end of the day, it's no surprise to see Young at the top of the list. However, Young and Rattler are considered the top quarterbacks in the 2022 NFL draft class, so their battle for the Heisman Trophy could come down to the wire.

North Carolina's Sam Howell is also expected to be a contender for the award. However, he had an underwhelming performance against Virginia Tech, completing 17-of-32 passes for 208 yards and one touchdown against three interceptions in a 17-10 loss to the Hokies. His performance heavily influenced his Heisman odds.
