Smith took an official visit to Provo last year and BYU was a top school for the former three-star pro-style passer. He eventually decided on OSU, who had one of the worst years in coach Mike Gundy's tenure in 2024.
BYU has room to add another quarterback, but roster limits could soon impact where he goes. Jake Retzlaff is entering his senior season and will be the pivotal starter for the Cougars this year.
In his lone season at Oklahoma State, Smith had 489 yards with two touchdowns and four interceptions. He struggled in the regular season finale against Colorado, but he was thrown into action as a game time decision.
The Cowboys freshman appeared in four games for Oklahoma State and has exercised the redshirt rule, meaning he'll have four year of eligibility remaining.
