Cade Klubnik's family has been a major storyline in the College Football Playoff as the Clemson Tigers quarterback returns to his hometown of Austin, Texas. Cade's parents, Kim and Tod, share an interesting connection with Texas Longhorns signal-caller Quinn Ewers.
The Clemson star's mom and dad also have a notable story as his parents retired to follow around the Tigers in an RV. Cade's family will not have quite the same commute as Clemson takes on Texas in Austin.
The Clemson quarterback is expected to have an extended contingency of family members in attendance for the team's playoff game against Texas.
"One thing that's been really sweet is how kind our Longhorn friends have been to us this week, offering to help get tickets or whatever we need," Cade's mom Kim told ESPN's Dave Wilson in a Friday feature story. "They've just been really kind and we really, really appreciate our Longhorn friends right now."
This is not the first time Cade and Quinn's path have intersected. Back in 2021, the two star quarterbacks squared off in the 6A Division II state championship game where Cade's Westlake squad defeated Quinn's Southlake Carroll team.
Four years ago, Cade Klubnik and Westlake high school defeated Quinn Ewers and Southlake in a thriller for the state championship.

Quinn now goes to the same Austin Ridge Church as Cade's parents. Despite a long history of competing on the field, Cade and Quinn share a friendship and bond with their faith. Pastor Brad Thomas admitted he faces an interesting predicament in the Clemson-Texas postseason matchup.

"This is probably the worst-case scenario for me as a pastor of a church that mainly consists of UT people," Brad lightheartedly explained to ESPN. "If Clemson wins the game, I probably need to find a job. If we lose the game, we probably need to find a job."
Cade and Quinn could end up squaring off next in the NFL depending on the decisions both quarterbacks make at the end of the season. For now, the stars are focused on attempting to win the College Football Playoff.
