After breaking out during Arizona State's run to the College Football Playoff, running back Cameron Skattebo off to the 2025 NFL Draft.

Skattebo got his start in the FCS ranks with Sacramento State in 2021. The Rio Linda, California, native racked up 1,372 rushing yards and seven touchdowns as a sophomore before transferring to the Sun Devils.

Skattebo (5-foot-9.5, 219 pounds) rushed for 783 yards with nine touchdowns in his first season at Arizona State. It was his senior campaign, though, that solidified his name in program history.

The former unranked recruit set ASU marks in single-season rushing yards (1,711) and touchdowns (21) while adding 45 catches for 605 yards with three scores as a receiver.

Skattebo earned First-Team All-America and First-Team All-Big 12 for his efforts.

Top prospects like Boise State's Ashton Jeanty and North Carolina's Omari Hampton appear to have separated themselves among the class of running backs. But that doesn't mean Skattebo won't be sought after following a dominant 2024 season with the Sun Devils.

According to a new mock draft from Athlon Sports, Luke Easterling projects Skattebo to land to the Los Angeles Chargers with the No. 86 overall pick in the third round.

This scenario would pair Skattebo with Pro Bowl quarterback Justin Herbert, who signed a five-year, $262.5 million extension ahead of the 2023 season.

An addition like Skattebo would give head coach Jim Harbaugh and Co. another option besides Najee Harris, who signed a one-year, $5.2 million deal in free agency.

Skattebo is the sixth running back taken in Athlon Sports' mock draft behind Jeanty (No. 10 overall), Hampton (No. 20), TreVeyon Henderson (No. 37), Kaleb Johnson (No. 44) and Quinshon Judkins (No. 67).

Skattebo can add to his draft stock with a good performance during the Big 12 Pro Days (March 18-21) before the 2025 NFL Draft is held from April 24-26 in Green Bay, Wisconsin.
