Carson Beck’s Heisman Odds Plummet After Disappointing Performance On Friday

Miami came into Friday's game against Louisville ranked as the No. 2 team in the AP poll with a perfect 5-0 record.

Everything was easy for the Hurricanes in their first five games of the season before they fell flat on their face against the Cardinals, losing by three at home, 24-21.

Quarterback Carson Beck, who had been sensational coming into this contest, picked a bad time to have a terrible game, finishing with 271 yards through the air, no touchdowns and four interceptions. He came into the game as a top favorite for the Heisman Trophy thanks to 1,213 yards through the air, 11 touchdowns and three interceptions in his first five games.

However, per On3, his Heisman Trophy odds went down to +2500 right after the Hurricanes' loss to the Cardinals. The odds were at +350 earlier in the week.

Beck is in his first season with the Hurricanes after transferring from the Georgia Bulldogs. He was with the Bulldogs for four seasons and was the starting quarterback for his final two seasons with them before transferring to the Hurricanes.

Beck and Co. will have to shake this loss off quickly since they have another home game coming next Saturday against the Stanford Cardinal. The Hurricanes can't afford to suffer any more setbacks this season due to how competitive the ACC and the rest of the college football landscape are.

They also don't want history to repeat itself after they had a great start last season, but collapsed down the stretch and didn't make the ACC Championship Game or College Football Playoff.

The Hurricanes are currently 1-1 in ACC play.
