Who will start at quarterback for the hapless New York Jets, who got another lame performance from Justin Fields in a Week 7 loss to the Carolina Panthers?
When given a chance to name a starter during his weekly Monday news conference, Jets coach Aaron Glenn declined, saying that was something he "wanted to look at."
Glenn, who could find himself to be a one-and-done coach in New York, added that "there's a lot of thought that goes into" naming a starting quarterback.
Glenn also said he has contacted other coaches who have been in the situation the Jets are at QB.

The 0-7 Jets, off to their worst start since the 2020 club began 0-13, have a full-blown QB controversy after Sunday's lifeless 13-6 loss.
Fields was yanked at halftime after completing six of 12 passes for 46 yards. His six drives resulted in three points, and Tyrod Taylor entered the game with Gang Green facing a 13-3 deficit.
Taylor did not fare much better (10-foot-22, 126 yards, two interceptions), and after the game, Glenn did not commit to a starting QB for the team's next game, a Week 8 matchup at the Cincinnati Bengals.

When asked why coaches haven't gotten the best out of Fields, Glenn, according to ESPN beat reporter Rich Cimini, lay some blame on Fields for his disappointing play. But he said the coaches aren't off the hook, adding, "There's blame to go around on a number of things."
Perhaps a telling answer from Glenn. On why the coaching staff hasn't been able to bring out the best in Fields:

"That's a good question and I think there's blame to go around on a number of things when you look at that question. We have to continue to figure out, how do we put…
Fields, who signed a two-year, $40 million contract with the Jets in the offseason, could easily become a cut candidate if he doesn't improve his play. The Jets could cut the fifth-year veteran QB before the start of next season and carry a dead cap hit of $22 million for the 2026 season, a manageable number if they draft a rookie QB or find a low-cost option to start next season.
