We are now 17 days away from Notre Dame kicking off their 2025 season down in Hard Rock Stadium against the Miami Hurricanes. As we continue to countdown the days until kickoff, several outlets continue to release their Preseason All-American teams. CBS Sports put out their list today and two Fighting Irish standouts, one on offense and one on defense, are now able to add yet another Preseason All-American selection to their offseason collection.
It's been quite sometime since Notre Dame has been able to say they boast the No. 1 running back and No. 1 cornerback in college football ahead of any season, but that's where they find themselves heading into 2025. Sophomore cornerback Leonard Moore and junior running back Jeremiyah Love found themselves named to CBS Sport's Preseason All-American team. Both Love and Moore have also been listed on Phil Steele's, Athlon Sports', ESPN's, Walter Camp's and the Athletic's Preseason All-American teams.
Love racked up 1,125 rushing yards, 17 rushing touchdowns, averaged 6.9 yards per carry and added 237 receiving yards and two receiving touchdowns in his first year as the primary back in 2024. Moore finished his stellar true freshman season with 48 tackles, 11 passes defended, two interceptions and two forced fumbles. Moore was also named the FWAA Defensive Freshman of the Year and was also selected to the FWAA Freshman All-American team.
Moore and Love have generated a lot of offseason and preseason attention. Moore has been named to the Bronko Nagurski Award Watch List, the Jim Thorpe Award Watch List and the Chuck Bednarik Award Watch List. Love has been named to the Maxwell Award Watch List, Walter Camp Player of the Year Watch List and the Doak Walker Award Watch List.
Both Moore and Love will be relied on heavily this season on their respective sides of the football to help lead this team back to the national title game. Love will assist in breaking in a first time starter at quarterback while Moore will be tasked with helping the secondary transition to first-year defensive coordinator, Chris Ash. If Notre Dame wants to have the season they're hoping for, they will need both of these CBS Sports Preseason All-Americans in a big way.
Four players on Notre Dame's schedule have also been named to the CBS Sports Preseason All-American team: Miami right tackle Francis Mauigoa, Texas A&M right guard Armaj Reed-Adams, Pittsburgh running back Desmond Reid who was named as an 'all-purpose' All-American on offense and Pittsburgh linebacker Kyle Louis. All four players will be challenging matchups for Notre Dame's offense and defense this fall.
