The Michigan Wolverines' quarterback room has been the subject of much speculation and fanfare this offseason with two former five-star prospects, Jadyn Davis and Bryce Underwood, battling transfers Jake Garcia and Mikey Keene for the starting job.
With Davis Warren working his way back from injury, Chase Herbstreit, Michigan's Class of 2025 recruit and the son of former Ohio State quarterback Kirk Herbstreit, has become the forgotten man in many ways.
He rbstreit came to Ann Arbor as a three-star prospect, respected for his running and passing abilities out of Cincinnati St. Xavier High School.
On Friday, word surfaced that Herbstreit was mysteriously absent from Michigan football's latest roster update on the popular College Football 26 video game from EA Sports, while other Wolverines players were added for the first time.
Five Wolverines were added to the latest College Football 26 rosters including Princeton transfer running back John Volker, who has an 80 rating, Cal Poly transfer offensive lineman Brady Norton (75), freshman edge Nate Marshall (74), projected starting punter Hudson Hollenback (71), and LB Tyler McLaurin (66) .
The news came amid a busy week on the field as fans became concerned with the throwing motion of a Wolverines quarterback. Former Wolverines star Aidan Hutchinson got a fierce new nickname from his Detroit Lions teammates.
Herbstreit has a tough road to playing time with at least four or five quarterbacks ahead of him on the roster including Underwood, Jadyn Davis, Mikey Keene, and Jake Garcia.
The Ohio native appeared to indicate that he's still with the Wolverines on Thursday as he shared a message about Michigan's newly named six captains on his Instagram page.
Herbstreit is a smart and talented prospect, but it is unlikely that he will play in 2025 unless something drastically changes between now and Michigan's final regular season game against his father's alma mater Ohio State.
