For the 21st year in a row, Clemson is playing in a Bowl game. After a tough 2025 campaign, the Tigers were still able to earn a chance to play in the postseason. It won’t be the postseason game they were expected to be in, but they will face an opponent many thought they’d play against this time of year.
Clemson will be playing in the 2025 Pinstripe Bowl. This will be the Tigers’ first time playing in this bowl game. They will have to travel up north and bear the cold for this one. But they will play in one of the most historic sporting venues in the country.
The Pinstripe Bowl takes place in Yankee Stadium in New York City. It will be cool to see the Clemson program play in one of the best destinations in all of sports. Unlike their opponents, though, the Tigers will have the task of adjusting to the cold weather of the northern winter.
Clemson will play Penn State in their year’s Pinstripe Bowl matchup. This will be just the second time these programs have ever met. The Tigers won the only other game between these schools, back in the 1988 Citrus Bowl. Now, two of the biggest brands in the sport will meet again nearly 40 years later.
This was a meeting many expected to take place in the college football playoffs this season. Both teams were ranked in the top five of the preseason AP poll. It didn’t take long for either team to begin failing at meeting their expectations.
Clemson started the season 1-3 in its first four games. It also lost three straight home games at one point in the season. The Tigers didn’t pull themselves back together until the end of the year, finishing the regular season with four straight wins.
The Nittany Lions didn’t start as badly, going 3-0 in their first three games. After an 0-3 start in the Big Ten, though, things went downhill fast. Penn State fired former head coach James Franklin in the midst of what would turn into a six-game losing streak. Much like Clemson, though, the Nittany Lions were able to turn things around at the end of the season. They strung together three straight wins to become bowl eligible.
For the Clemson fans who don’t want to travel into the cold weather, do not fear. The game will be aired live on ABC and the ESPN app. The Game takes place Saturday, December 27th, with a noon kickoff.
