Clemson quarterback Cade Klubnik flew under the radar a bit in 2024 with players like Shedeur Sanders, Will Howard and Quinn Ewers getting a lot of attention at the quarterback position.
Klubnik was one heck of a player in his third season (second as a starter) at Clemson, though. He threw for 3,639 yards and 36 touchdowns compared to just six interceptions. He also rushed 119 times for 463 yards and seven touchdowns.
Throw in the fact that Klubnik led Clemson to the inaugural 12-team College Football Playoff off the strength of a four-touchdown performance in the ACC Championship Game, and one has to wonder how things could get better for him next season.
In a way-too-early prediction piece by Chris Low of ESPN, Klubnik is being tabbed as a potential first-team All-American.
"Klubnik showed tremendous growth a year ago and put up sensational numbers. One of two FBS quarterbacks with more than 3,600 passing yards and 400 rushing yards in 2024, he accounted for 43 touchdowns (36 passing, 7 rushing). Now, as he enters his fourth season at Clemson with 28 starts under his belt — and all his top receivers returning — the 6-foot-2, 210-pound senior is poised for his best performance yet," Low wrote.
Miami quarterback Cam Ward was the first-team All-American this past season, and Oregon's Dillon Gabriel was second team.
Klubnik was in their tier of quarterback, so it will be interesting to see if he can get even better in 2025. ESPN certainly thinks he will.
