It feels like North Carolina was just humbled in Bill Belichick's debut, but it's already time to do it all over again with another weekend of college football fast approaching.
Admittedly, Week 2 isn't as loaded as last week's slate. There's just one game on deck between top-25 teams: No. 15 Michigan at No. 18 Oklahoma. The focus here is the quarterback matchup between the Wolverines' Bryce Underwood, a true freshman, and the Sooners' John Mateer, a highly touted transfer. They both played well in their debuts, but how will they fare against tough defenses come Saturday?
There's plenty of intrigue elsewhere on Saturday's schedule with the Cy-Hawk Trophy up for grabs when No. 16 Iowa State hosts Iowa. Baylor and No. 17 SMU also renew their erstwhile Southwest Conference rivalry in Dallas. No. 11 Illinois takes on Duke in an underrated nonconference matchup. SEC play also starts Saturday with No. 20 Ole Miss on the road at Kentucky. And South Florida will look to pick up a second consecutive ranked win when they face No. 13 Florida in the Swamp.
Athlon writers make against-the-spread picks for all the games featuring top-25 teams and share a best bet below.
(Editor's note: At the time of publication, no spread was available for East Texas A&M at No. 14 Florida State, Grambling at No. 1 Ohio State, Austin Peay at No. 4 Georgia, East Tennessee State at No. 22 Tennessee, Cal Poly at No. 25 Utah, Bethune-Cookman at No. 5 Miami or South Carolina State at No. 10 South Carolina, so those games are not included below.)

Steven Lassan: Iowa at No. 16 Iowa State - Iowa +3.5
Iowa has won 11 out of the last 16 meetings against Iowa State, including the last six in Ames. The Hawkeyes struggled on offense at times in the opener against Albany, but I think it’s safe to bet on coach Kirk Ferentz and this team finding a way to keep this one under 3.5 points on the scoreboard.
Thomas Neumann: No. 20 Ole Miss at Kentucky — Ole Miss -10.5
The Rebels revved up their offense with 63 points against Georgia State last week, whereas Kentucky struggled with a gritty Toledo squad. Look for Lane Kiffin & Co. to raise the temperature on Mark Stoops' hot seat.
Kyle Wood: UL Monroe at No. 21 Alabama — Alabama -36.5
The Crimson Tide have had to hear all week that they're not what they once were, that the dynasty is over, that — as Thomas Castellanos said — Nick Saban can't save them. This is a get-right game if there ever was one. In two games against SEC teams last season, the Warhawks lost by a combined score of 99-17.
