The College Football season got off to a hot start in Week 1 with Ohio State beating Texas, Florida State taking down Alabama, LSU going on the road, knocking off Clemson, and Miami getting a huge home win over Notre Dame.

Even though the College Football Playoffs are still far away, it’s time to release bracketology after Week 1 games.

1. Ohio State

The Buckeyes’ huge home win over Texas propels them to the No. 1 spot. Ohio State’s defense held quarterback Arch Manning and the Longhorns’ offense to seven points, which came late in the fourth quarter. Ohio State’s offense wasn’t great, only putting up 14 points, but that was with quarterback Julian Sayin starting his first college game.

2. LSU

LSU’s road win over Clemson was incredible. Clemson was picked by many to be the favorite to win the national championship this season. LSU’s defense played amazingly, holding Clemson to ten points. While LSU’s quarterback Garrett Nussmeier took control of the offense.

3. Miami

Miami comes in at No. 3 after beating Notre Dame on Sunday night. The Hurricanes looked good under Georgia transfer quarterback Carson Beck, and the defense showed signs that they could take a significant leap from last season.

4. Penn State

The Nittany Lions took down Nevada, winning 46-11. Penn State’s roster is loaded on both sides of the ball and will be tested when it plays Oregon and Ohio State this season.

5. Georgia

Just like Penn State, Georgia had an easy test playing Marshall. The Bulldogs showed they are going to have another year of great defensive play and could be the team to beat in the SEC once again.

6. Texas

Even though the Longhorns lost, they still played great on defense. Texas was able to shut down the Buckeyes for most of the game. If the offense had capitalized in the red zone, they would’ve won the game. There is nothing to worry about in Austin.

7. Oregon

The Ducks beat Montana State 59-13, marking a significant improvement from last season, during which they struggled with Idaho for most of their first game. Oregon looks great under new quarterback Dante Moore. Ohio State, Oregon, and Penn State will all be fun to watch in the Big Ten this season.

8. Florida State

Taking down Alabama is impressive, but who knows how the Crimson Tide will be this season? Alabama lost four games last season, with three of them coming against Oklahoma, Vanderbilt, and Michigan, all of which were in the middle of the pack.

9. Clemson

Clemson’s loss to LSU was disappointing, but they play in the ACC, which is one of the easiest conferences in college football. The Tigers avoid Miami and host Florida State, so they should be able to get to the ACC title game.

10. Notre Dame

Notre Dame losing to Miami sets them back a little, but next week, they go up against Texas A&M in South Bend. If the Fighting Irish pull off a win, they will be right back in the playoff mix.

11. Utah

Utah looked good on the road, knocking off UCLA 43-10. New Mexico quarterback Devon Dampier looked good in his first start, and the Utes could be the team to beat in the Big 12.

12. Tulane

Tulane is the highest non-power four team in this scenario, and its win over Northwestern last week was significant. The Green Wave will head to Ole Miss in a few weeks, and if that’s their only loss and they don’t get beaten too badly, they should be fine.

End Of College Football Rant

Week 2 of the college football season could bring a new team into bracketology with Michigan going on the road to Oklahoma.
