The rumors surrounding Texas Longhorns quarterback Quinn Ewers and his future plans have been as loud as ever.
The third-year starter hopes to lead Texas to its first title appearance since Colt McCoy was behind center in 2009 and win the program's first title since Vince Young's iconic run against USC in the 2005 season. However, a random account on the app formerly known as Twitter "reported" that Ewers not only had second thoughts about declaring for the NFL draft, but also has an unnamed Big Ten program willing to fork over millions if he transfers.
A narrative that many thought was put to rest when it was reported back in November that he was expected to declare for the NFL draft. However, with the new rumors surfacing, fans began to grow skeptical of Ewers declaring for the draft. Based on a report on Sunday, the skepticism can be put to rest...again.
Orangebloods' Anward Richardson reported via X that when Ewers takes the field on Saturday against No. 12 Clemson at Texas' DKR, it will in fact, be the final home game of his career.
"Quinn Ewers' last game in DKR will occur against Clemson on Saturday," wrote Richardson. "And the QB deserves nothing but love for what he has accomplished at Texas.
While he routinely has fans calling for his backup, Arch Manning, Ewers will forever be credited with being the quarterback that brought Texas back. He led the program to two 11-win seasons and also led the program to its first conference title since 2009 as well.
On top of those accomplishments, he led Texas to two College Football Playoff appearances and on Saturday, will have a chance to bolster his legacy by securing the program's first playoff win. A deep run in the College Football Playoff could also help boost his draft stock, which has seemingly taken a bit of a hit as he is no longer in the first rounds of mock drafts.
So, regardless of what the social media rumors say, all reports indicate that this is the final ride for Ewers in Austin.
