One of Colorado football's promising young players from last year's recruiting class hit the transfer portal on Tuesday.
Cornerback Ben Bouzi, who was one of Deion Sanders' 'Florida Pipeline' prospects will be going elsewhere in next season.
Bouzi, a 6-foot-1, 175-pound defensive back from Naples High School, appeared in one game on special teams for the Buffs last season.
Sanders likely saw this move from Bouzi coming. The Colorado Buffaloes coach said after the spring game on Saturday that the defense has to be “more stout” in pass coverage and added that some defensive backs would be entering the portal. Sanders also called Bouzi the 'Total package' upon committing to Colorado.
The three-star prospect had offers from Florida State, Pitt, Louisville, Maryland, and others. That was before Bouzi, a former UMass commit, found himself in legal trouble last summer. The charges were dropped before the 2024 season.
Bouzi finished his time at Naples as a four-year starter. He racked up 59 tackles, 13 PDUs, and five interceptions.
He'll have four years of eligibility remaining at his next stop.
