Deion Sanders spoke to the media for the first time since the NFL Combine on Monday. He announced Colorado's annual Black & Gold Spring Game would be televised on ESPN2 at Folsom Field on Saturday, April 19. Kickoff is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. ET.
This marks the third straight year the scrimmage will be televised to a wide audience. ESPN featured Sanders' welcome to Boulder during his first year in front of a sold out crowd. The follow up last year on the Pac-12 Network wasn't impressive because of weather but was still notable.
Sanders is trying to be a trendsetter once again, saying he wanted to find a team to play in the scrimmage like an NFL joint practice. Not a bad idea and revolutionary considering the NIL era we're all trying to adjust under. It would be a first for college football spring games.

It's a sign to the rest of the country that Sanders and the Buffs are ready to compete. While other teams like Nebraska are canceling the spring exhibition due to talent poaching, Colorado is willing to put on a show and make it an actual event.

"We got to sell out this thing and pack the stadium," Sanders said about the Spring game. "The way this train is going, I don't know if this will be the last one."

The upcoming spring game should give a better look at Colorado's two outstanding QB's. Julian Lewis comes to Boulder as a true freshman and has started to turn heads. The former five-star was listed as a top ten overall recruit before flipping from USC to CU. Sanders and the Buffs also snagged Kaidon Salter out of the transfer portal. The former Liberty standout threw for 4,762 yards and 47 touchdowns compared to 12 interceptions in 25 combined games since the start of the 2023 season.
