Colorado Sees Major Change In Updated College Football FPI Rankings

ESPN updated its Football Power Index (FPI) on Sunday after an eventful Week 14 in college football that had six ranked teams go down while others survived close calls.

One team that took care of business with ease was the Colorado Buffaloes. They went out and dominated Oklahoma State 52-0 in the final home game for their stars, Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter.

Thanks to the blowout win, Colorado saw a major jump in the FPI rankings, making them the biggest mover in this week’s Top 25.

Previously at No. 24, Colorado rose five spots to No. 19 in the nation.

The Florida Gators and Iowa State Cyclones both moved up three spots, marking them as the second-biggest risers of the week. Meanwhile, the Tulane Green Wave and Iowa Hawkeyes each fell four spots, earning the title of the week’s biggest drop.

ESPN's FPI takes into account many factors. The computer model uses on-field performance, offensive and defensive efficiency, strength of schedule, strength of record, and more to generate rankings.

Colorado moved to 9-3 on the season with the win but missed out on a spot in the Big 12 Championship Game, meaning it will also miss the College Football Playoff.
