Just when it was all over, Colorado pulled off a massive win over Iowa State two weeks ago to keep the season alive.
Deion Sanders’ team is still just 3-4, but with winnable games against Arizona and West Virginia up next, everything changes if it can get out of Salt Lake City with a win.
Utah has to pick up the pieces after a tough 24-21 rivalry loss to BYU. It’s now in big trouble in the Big 12 title chase, but at 5-2, it can be in the College Football Playoff discussion by winning out.
With three of the next four games at home, here’s where the Utes have to pick it up.

So what did Colorado do so right in the win over Iowa State?
First and foremost, it played a clean game. There's little margin for error with this year's team, and it can't afford a slew of turnovers and penalties.
It didn't give the ball away for the first game in a long time, the offense took advantage of its opportunities, and overall, the team was helped by the Cyclones stalling.
Against the Utes, it's this simple - you have to take them out of their comfort zone.
This isn't a high-powered offensive team. There's a reason the two losses came in the two games it allowed more than 350 yards of offense. The Buffaloes came up with almost 400 yards against the Cyclones, but ...
Utah is too good at keeping control of games.
Can the Colorado defense hold up when Ute QB Devon Dampier gets moving? There's a reason the Utes are No. 1 in the nation in third down conversions - they're methodical.
The Colorado run defense isn't awful, but it doesn't do enough. Utah is a sure-thing to pound away for at least 200 yards and average close to six yards per carry. Keep on grinding, control the clock, and make the Buffs start pushing.
Colorado isn't great in the time of possession battle, it doesn't bring a pass rush, and ...
This is when Utah starts to look the part again.
BYU seemed to have the Utes on their heels, Texas Tech took full control in their win in Salt Lake City, and this year's Colorado team can't do that.
The Buffaloes might be rested after enjoying two weeks off, and they'll be good early on, but the Utah running game will take over when needed. The Utes will start to pull away midway through the fourth.
