Barring a minor miracle, the Colorado Buffaloes are heading to a traditional bowl game and not the College Football Playoff. Colorado did not get the help the team needed in order to make the Big 12 title game.
Instead, the Arizona State Sun Devils will take on the Iowa State Cyclones in the Big 12 championship. Colorado's only chance to make the College Football Playoff would be as an at-large team.
Heading into the final week of the regular season, the 9-3 Buffaloes were slotted at No. 25 in the College Football Playoff rankings. The good news is Colorado is going to a bowl game, but Deion Sanders' squad is awaiting their fate for the team's final matchup.
Colorado's latest bowl projections show fans could see a de facto Big 12 runner-up game. 247Sports' Brad Crawford predicts Colorado will face the BYU Cougars in the Alamo Bowl on Dec. 28.

Both Colorado and BYU ended the season in a four-way tie for first place in the Big 12 standings. The Buffs and Cougars did not make the conference title game based on the Big 12 tiebreakers.
BYU began the season with a perfect 9-0 record before losing two straight games to Arizona State and the Kansas Jayhawks. Given the team's star power, Colorado is expected to be a popular pick for bowl executives with Coach Prime, Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter coming to town.
