While most of Boulder was navigating blocked streets and cheering on runners during the 45th annual Bolder Boulder 10K, one Colorado Buffalo was chasing something different: greatness.
Incoming freshman quarterback Julian “JuJu” Lewis who is still just 17 years old, posted a video to social media that’s quickly gaining traction among CU fans. In it, Lewis is seen hex bar squatting six 45-pound plates inside Colorado’s indoor practice facility. The caption was short, but impactful:
“Ain’t nobody in the building, but there’s somebody in the building.”

For Colorado football fans hoping the former five-star out of Georgia is as serious as advertised, this post says everything. Lewis may be listed at 6-foot-1, 190 pounds on the spring roster, but his training regimen suggests he could report to fall camp cracking 200. It’s a significant mark for a quarterback aiming to compete in the Power Four ranks, especially under the watch of Coach Deion Sanders and OC Pat Shurmur .
Though Lewis’ spring game stats, where he went 10-of-18 passing for 63 yards and one touchdown, didn’t turn heads, his attitude might.
“You have to be here, get the extra time with the GAs and all the extra people,” Lewis said post-spring camp. “I definitely didn’t need that in high school.”
With Kaidon Salter still the front-runner to start, Lewis isn’t guaranteed anything but reps and reality. Still, Memorial Day mornings like this one may be the first page in a story that’s just getting started.
Buff Nation, you’ve been put on notice.
