Curt Cignetti Teaches 1,300-Yard WR Harsh Lesson

It's been a little over two months since Indiana won its first college football national title.

It was an amazing run by Indiana, capped off by beating Miami in the College Football Playoff National Championship Game. Indiana head coach Curt Cignetti brought the program to the top of the mountain in just two seasons at the helm.

He'll now try to win his second-straight national title during the 2026 college football season, and prep is already underway for it. The Hoosiers are in spring practices, and Cignetti wasn't happy with one of his players on Thursday.

Wide receiver Nick Marsh, who transferred from Michigan State to Indiana after the 2025 season, showed up to practice in gold cleats, and Cignetti wasn't pleased about it.

"I didn't love those gold shoes he came out in today. He learned what getting your (expletive) ripped is all about. I don't know if that happened to him very often at Michigan State," Cignetti said, via Jared Kelly of 247Sports. "That was before practice started, and it was a wake-up call. But no, he's really worked hard, done a great job for us."

Cignetti made sure to nip that in the bud early on during the spring.

Marsh spent the last two seasons at Michigan State, compiling 100 receptions for 1,311 yards and nine touchdowns. He finished the 2025 season with 59 receptions for 662 yards and six touchdowns.

Marsh is expected to heavily contribute to the Hoosiers this year and will play his first game with them on Sept. 5.
