The Oregon Ducks have 14 commits in the 2026 class, and they just landed one of the elite offensive tackles this past weekend, but Dan Lanning's program has struggled with some of their more prestigious swings. Still lacking a top-end cornerback to go with three safety additions, the Ducks watched four-star Chauncey Kennon go to Florida State on Sunday.
The Florida native didn't have Oregon in his final four if insiders are correct, but Kennon had the Ducks listed in his pre-announcement graphic. But the Ducks are barely featured on any of his recruiting pages.
That's a bad look for the Ducks, as Kennon was a top 50 prospect and No. 5 corner overall.

“It’s a dream school. I always wanted to be at Florida State,” Kennon told Warchant ahead of his June OV to Tallahassee. “As y’all know, my sister goes to Florida State, my family grew up liking Florida State, so it’s just always been a dream school.”
Oregon is looking for a star-level corner to pair with five-star safety Jett Washington in this class. Davon Benjamin is expected to become that top name when he announces, as the four-star is considered 94% to pick the Ducks over USC.
Three-star WR/CB Asa Thompson from Tacoma, Washington, is also a heavy Oregon lean over the Huskies.
There's reason to still be okay with Lanning's recruiting efforts, but this year has brought a lot more whiffs on big swings than last year's white-hot streak, where he was plucking top names from big contenders outside of the West Coast region.
