The Oregon Ducks have been a tremendous program from a recruiting perspective under head coach Dan Lanning. While the main priority for the Ducks is to close on the top talent on the West Coast, Oregon has become a national recruiting power. They are beginning to pull talent from everywhere.
On Monday night, Oregon dipped into the Southeast and received a commitment from 2027 Alabaster (Al.) Thompson defensive end Cameron Pritchett. The talented pass rusher opted for the Ducks over Tennessee, Auburn, Clemson, and Florida State. If you notice the similarities between the schools that missed out, they are all Southeastern schools.

Oregon being able to go into that area of the country is extremely telling to their recruiting reach. Pritchett is not a player that would leave that region typically in the past, but the Ducks were able to make their stamp early on in the 2027 class.
Pritchett is considered to be a near-consensus four-star player by a majority of major recruiting platforms. He ranks as the No. 170 overall player, No. 21 EDGE, and No. 5 player in the state of Alabama according to the 247Sports Composite ranking for the 2027 recruiting class. The On3 Industry ranking has him rated similarly, currently sitting as the No. 167 overall player and No. 16 defensive lineman in the country.
Outside of Oregon, Pritchett had to pick from a long list of impressive suitors. Some of the top programs that have offered the Alabama star include Georgia, Texas, Ohio State, Notre Dame, LSU, Michigan, Tennessee, Ole Miss, Texas A&M, USC, Florida, Penn State, Auburn, South Carolina, Florida State, Missouri, Kentucky, Louisville, Maryland, West Virginia, and Baylor among others.
On a very talented Thompson defense, Pritchett was dynamic as a sophomore. The 6-3, 235-pound pass rusher managed to collect 78 total tackles, 15 tackles for loss, and 6.5 sacks. Pritchett also managed to record six more tackles for loss, and a forced fumble.
