Darian Mensah's transfer controversy has been resolved

The Duke Blue Devils have finally sorted things out with quarterback Darian Mensah.

Mensah and the Blue Devils agreed to a settlement on Tuesday, according to Pete Thamel of ESPN. The agreement will allow Mensah to transfer to the Miami Hurricanes, as he had hoped to do.

Mensah had entered the transfer portal just before it closed two weeks ago, with Miami as his intended destination.

Duke promptly took legal action to try to enforce the multiyear NIL contract he had signed with the school.

Terms of the settlement were not disclosed, but Duke said in a statement that the agreement addressed its primary concerns.

The entire saga ends with a clear win for Miami, which will replace Carson Beck with one of the country’s top quarterbacks. Mensah threw for 3,973 passing yards and 34 touchdowns for Duke in 2025 and was an All-ACC selection. His presence should ensure that the Hurricanes remain one of the nation’s top programs and have a chance to get back to the national title game next year.

Duke, on the other hand, has a lot of work to do. Mensah had initially told the school that he intended to stay, and the Blue Devils were planning on that right up until he changed his mind.
