DayDay Farmer Hits Transfer Portal as WVU Loses Top 2024 Recruit

One year after signing Ric’Darious “DayDay” Farmer as a big recruiting win, the WVU wide receiver is hitting the transfer portal. Farmer has decided to treat the portal water after West Virginia’s recent coaching change from Neal Brown to Rich Rodriguez, per ESPN’s Max Olson.

Farmer played sparingly in his first season of college football in 2024. He made six receptions for 54 yards. Farmer caught two balls for nine yards in WVU’s 42-37 Frisco Bowl loss to Memphis on Tuesday night.

West Virginia flipped Farmer from Pitt last December from as a big recruiting win, but he’s now looking elsewhere after coaching change.

Farmer came to WVU with much hype as a key member of Neal Brown’s final recruiting class.

Back in August, WVU wide receivers coach Bilal Marshall called Framer “very electric” and said he knew right away the Melbourne, Fla. native has a natural talent. Marshall even went as far as to characterize Farmer as more talented than 99% of the players who come to WVU.

Marshall’s comments come only a few days after Brown classified Framer as “elite” when the ball is in the air.

But that’s not all Brown had to say about the Florida native who he flipped on National Signing Day in December of 2023.

“He’s got twitch, and he’s got explosiveness. He’s made several competitive plays, he was good yesterday in our 11 on 11 work. Excited about him. He’s going to earn some playing time if he continues,” elaborated Brown.

West Virginia flipped Farmer from Pitt on Early National Signing Day last year. He was previously committed to UCF before changing to Pitt in the summer of 2024.
