Alabama football’s loss to Indiana in the Rose Bowl was not the way the Crimson Tide wanted to end the season.

The Hoosiers defeated Alabama 38-3 en route to winning the National Championship. Kalen DeBoer was asked what he wanted the Tide to hammer on this offseason, following the loss to Indiana during an interview with Josh Pate.

“We’ve hit on a lot of the things,” DeBoer said. “They ran it at us. The run game improved for them as the game went along. We struggled to run. I mean, that’s not just in that game. They made big plays in critical moments. That was something we prided ourselves on, and I think we were pretty good at it a year ago. But the end of the first half, the last part of the second quarter, they stretched their lead. That’s what experienced teams do, and we got to continue to work on those things. We won games because of that. That one in that part of the game that separated us, Certainly us and what we had done together, I think we still had a belief that we can come out of the locker room and especially with the ball, do some things, but we could just never get it going.”

The Hoosiers went on to defeat Miami to take home the national title. The Tide’s season ended with the loss after the Tide made the College Football Playoff and beat Oklahoma in the first round.
