A 2023 bankruptcy case involving Deion Sanders' son, Shilo, and a high school assault has led to a lot of talk regarding his NIL earnings in the lead-up to this month's NFL Draft.
According to reports, the Colorado safety disclosed roughly $325,000 in assets as part of a nearly $12 million judgement against him involving an altercation with a former Texas school security guard.
But Coach Prime maintains that his middle-son has fulfilled all of his "financial obligations" and he isn't giving much credence to a lot of the legal "bull junk."
"Shilo got several years of film that are impeccable," Sanders explained. "Shilo had one negative game that we could denote. [He has] been a pillar of consistency. Shilo is an old school player playing up under these new school guidelines. Shilo is a dog."
"He ran surprisingly— I'm pretty sure he's surprised a lot of you guys, his 40-time today, and I'm so darn proud of him. He does not take a backseat to his brother. He does not take a backseat to anybody," the Buffs coach said.
"He's a worker and he's a go-getter, and he's a dog. He's a doer," Deion continued. "I love what he represents. I love who he is on and off the field. He's a great young man."
"I know some other bull junk came out, but he fulfilled all his financial obligations. These issues appear to have risen due to disruptions in the payment process. This is from his attorney: 'following the termination of Mr. Sanders online account access.' So, he's good. He's good," Prime concluded.
Shilo is projected to be a late-round pick in the sixth or seventh round — if he even gets drafted at all.
The 25-year-old is experienced and versatile, but did not receive an invitation to the NFL Combine and could fall due to his age and some of the aforementioned off-field concerns.
