The Colorado Buffaloes and head coach Deion Sanders are looking to build into being a College Football Playoff contender moving forward. However, he'll need to make that happen while replacing Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter.
With that in mind, Sanders has helped turn Colorado into a favorable destination for both recruits and transfer portal players.
Sanders has yet to make any kind of splash in the 2026 recruiting class. In fact, according to 247 Sports, he hasn't received any commitments yet.
Now, the Buffaloes have received a major recruiting update on Tuesday regarding a highly-coveted wide receiver in the 2026 class.
According to a report from Sam Spiegelman of Rivals, Colorado is one of the three teams who have emerged as a favorite to land top-50 recruit Jordan Clay. Both the Baylor Bears and Oklahoma Sooners are also involved.
"Baylor, Colorado, and Oklahoma have emerged as favorites for top-50 recruit Jordan Clay, who has official visits lined up to all three contenders. No team has come on stronger than Baylor," he wrote on X.
Clay is ranked as the No. 9 wide receiver in the entire 2026 recruiting class, according to 247 Sports. He is also ranked as the No. 83 overall player in the nation and is the No. 15 ranked player in the state of Texas.
Standing in at 6-foot-3 and 200 pounds and hailing from San Antonio, Texas, Clay would be a game-changing addition for Colorado. Other teams who have shown interest in him include the Texas Longhorns, Arizona State Sun Devils, and Miami Hurricanes.
There is no timeline for when Clay will make his commitment, but Sanders and the Buffaloes have a shot.
