Deion Sanders Faces Backlash For Son's Drop in NFL Draft

Deion Sanders broke his silence and decided to speak directly to the narratives generated during Shedeur Sanders' draft process. The sports analysts who were the loudest have gone radio silent now that Coach Prime has decided to debunk what has been said about his son. Sanders didn’t like the fact that sports analysts said Shedeur went into meetings unprepared with headphones on his head and was unprofessional.

Booger McFarland said Tuesday on First Take that he heard some of this stuff, and it wasn’t made up. He went on to say he doesn’t have a problem with Sanders defending his son, but to be fair, Coach Prime wasn’t in any of the meetings. It's hard to know which side might be telling the truth.

Coach Prime feels that Shedeur was more than prepared for the meetings, having six different offensive coordinators during his college football career. Two questions he should be asking himself are: Why did he have so many offensive coordinators? And what was the cause for the constant change?

Sanders changed OCs midway through the 2021 football season at Jackson State. Not to mention, Sean Lewis was demoted by giving Pat Shurmur play calling duties midway through the 2023 season at Colorado.

Coach Prime’s disproval of when Shedeur was drafted could be related to the report of being on FaceTime with his son during the interview with the Tennessee Titans. I’m sure Deion meant no harm trying to make sure his son wasn’t being mishandled, and Shedeur not having any representation was a misstep in hindsight. Coach Prime's approach with Shedeur during the NFL draft process will leave some fans wondering if he forgot the NFL draft process is different compared to when he was drafted in 1989?

Shedeur Sanders landed with an organization that Coach Prime has said multiple times he didn’t want his son being drafted by. He also said he would "pull an Eli" if a non-preferred drafted Shedeur. Well, it seems that NFL organizations showed him that wouldn't be a problem.

Sanders is proving to everyone that it doesn’t matter where he went. He will be competing for a roster spot and looks to make the team. Fans can understand that Coach Prime is upset about NFL teams spreading lies about Shedeur's pre-draft process, but he must shoulder some of the blame for the circus created around his son during the process.
