Deion Sanders Gives Three-Word Update Amid Unknown Health Complications

Colorado Buffaloes head coach Deion Sanders stepped away from Boulder to attend to another health issue.

Sanders, 57, is recovering at his estate in Texas with assistance from sons Deion Sanders Jr. and Tampa Bay Buccaneers rookie safety Shilo Sanders. Coach Prime’s current medical complication is unknown. He plans to discuss it when he returns to Boulder.

However, Deion Sanders' medical history is quite extensive since he sustained blood clots in his legs in 2021. That led to the amputation of his left big toe and a second toe on the same foot. Coach Prime also underwent a procedure in 2023 to address the blood clots, which resulted in the sides of his left calf being removed.

Furthermore, Sanders lost 14 pounds recently and claimed “what I’m dealing with is on a whole 'nother level” during an interview with former NFL cornerback Asante Samuel on his “Say What Needs to be Said” podcast.

As Coach Prime continues to battle this issue, close friends and former players paid him a visit, including former Buffaloes and now Jacksonville Jaguars rookie wide receiver and cornerback Travis Hunter. Pro Football Hall of Fame wide receiver Michael Irvin also visited Sanders on June 11.

After spending time with his closest friends and supporters, Sanders sent out an update on his Instagram story. “Walking it out,” he wrote on Wednesday, symbolizing his desire to be active and recover from his current health struggles.

There has been no word on when Sanders will return to Colorado. The Buffaloes' regular season starts Aug. 29 against the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets at Folsom Field.
