Deion Sanders and the Colorado Buffaloes added a big-time player to their 2025 recruiting class on Thursday afternoon.

After decommitting from the USC Trojans just a few days ago, five-star quarterback Julian Lewis joined "The Pat McAfee Show" to announce that he will be playing for Colorado next season.

The 17-year-old out of Carrollton High School in Georgia is ranked as the second-best prospect in his class (ESPN) and gives Coach Prime a solid option once his son, quarterback Shedeur Sanders, departs for the NFL after this season.

Following the big news, Deion Sanders discussed his latest addition, revealing his thoughts on Lewis joining his team in Boulder.

"It was a great thing for the program," Deion Sanders said. "We know that's been in the working for quite some time. Great kid, great talent. I like the qualities and the home structure. I like all of that, and I can't wait to be a part of his life and coach him."

Coach Prime was then asked how often he communicates with players like Lewis during the recruitment process.

"When I feel it in my spirit," Deion Sanders added. "You know, get [Lewis] on the phone and get his poppa on the phone, see if his dad wanna come down and just sit down and chop it up with me. He sat in my office, I think, a few weeks ago for a couple of hours. I said, 'Come on, give it out to me because I know you got a bunch of questions in mind, let's go.' And we did that. And he walked away feeling really comfortable."

Lewis, the 6-foot-1, 195-pounder, was named MaxPreps National Sophomore of the Year and a finalist for the Gatorade National Player of the Year in 2023. Initially, the quarterback was the top prospect in the class of 2026 but later reclassified to the 2025 cycle while still being committed to the Trojans.

Lewis becomes Coach Prime's highest rated recruit since he flipped hybrid star Travis Hunter from Florida State to Jackson State. The QB is also the third five-star prospect Deion Sanders has brought in since taking over in Boulder in late 2022, joining cornerback Cormani McClain and offensive tackle Jordan Seaton.

Following Lewis' commitment, Colorado's 2025 recruiting class has improved to No. 46 nationally.
