Deion Sanders is gearing up for the 2025 college football season with his Colorado Buffaloes, but things will look a bit different this time around. That’s because his two biggest stars from last season, Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter, have moved on to the NFL.
Still, Coach Prime is staying close to the action. He’s keeping a watchful eye on his former players, especially his son and former quarterback, Shedeur Sanders.
After the Cleveland Browns wrapped up practice on Thursday, Shedeur Sanders spoke with the media. He was asked a simple but important question: Where has he grown the most since being drafted?
His answer was honest and heartfelt:
“I would say spiritually...getting closer to God and definitely talking to him consistently, having a real relationship with him.”
Deion Sanders caught wind of his son’s comments and responded the way many proud fathers might, by simply tagging Shedeur Sanders on Instagram without saying a word. The silence spoke volumes, a proud moment captured with a quiet nod of approval.
Shedeur Sanders was selected 144th overall by the Cleveland Browns in the fifth round of the 2025 NFL draft. He joins a crowded quarterback room that includes Deshaun Watson, Joe Flacco and Kenny Pickett. The Browns also drafted Dillon Gabriel in the third round, creating serious competition for snaps in training camp and beyond.
In college, Shedeur Sanders had an impressive resume. After transferring from Jackson State, he spent two seasons at Colorado and won the 2024 Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award.
The Browns’ preseason kicks off on Aug. 8 on the road against the Carolina Panthers. They travel to face the Philadelphia Eagles the following week and then host the Los Angeles Rams in their preseason finale on Aug. 23.
Cleveland’s regular season begins at home on Sept. 7 when they take on the Cincinnati Bengals.
