Colorado Buffaloes head coach Deion Sanders is one of the greatest athletes to ever live.
Sanders, who is in his third season as the head coach at Colorado, was a six-time All Pro cornerback during his Hall of Fame NFL career. He's an all-time legend, and one of the top defensive backs to ever step onto a football field.
That's why it's a bit surprising that Sanders lost a cornerback to the Tennessee Vols during the spring transfer window.
And that cornerback -- Colton Hood -- is absolutely thriving for the Volunteers.
Despite being coached by an NFL legend in Sanders, Hood decided to leave Colorado during the spring transfer window for Tennessee.
Hood, who started his career at Auburn, was set to play a key role for the Buffaloes this fall with Travis Hunter moving on to the NFL.
But instead, he saw an opportunity he couldn't pass up at Tennessee. And that decision is paying major dividends.
Hood has been a revelation for the Vols through the first five games of the season. The Georgia native has already scored two defensive touchdowns while allowing just seven receptions for 56 yards so far this season.

Hood's success at Tennessee is a devastating blow to Sanders and his reputation when it comes to developing defensive backs.
If a player like Hood leaves Sanders and Colorado for the Vols, and then immediately starts producing at a high level against better competition, what does that say about Coach Prime’s ability to develop talent? Why would any young defensive backs have Colorado first on their list if there are better development opportunities available at programs in the SEC?
Hood is just one player. But he's already being viewed as a potential first round pick in the 2026 NFL Draft after he was barely on the draft radar before transferring to Tennessee.
That's a huge selling point for Tennessee moving forward, and a huge blow to Sanders' reputation when it comes to developing defensive talent.
