Deion Sanders Responds to Colorado Field Storming: ‘I Love It’

Colorado’s dramatic upset win over Iowa State brought more than just a victory; it sparked a full-blown field storming in Boulder. And while the moment went viral for its chaotic energy, head coach Deion Sanders had no problem with the spectacle. In fact, he embraced it with open arms.

“I love it,” Sanders said when asked about the fans storming the field. “I want to see the kids rush the field. I absolutely love it.” His reaction was classic Prime: charismatic, candid, and completely in touch with the emotions of the moment. Colorado fans flooded Folsom Field after the final whistle, and while it wasn’t the first time fans had done that, it was the most raucous yet.

But Sanders did offer a slight reality check. “I love it as long as we control our, you know, we don’t want to do nothing stupid,” he said. That comment came after one fan was seen getting pinned under a fallen goalpost during the celebration. Fortunately, others helped lift it off him, and no serious injuries were reported. The incident was more alarming than damaging, but it underscored how quickly moments like these can go sideways.

Sanders, ever the showman, also took issue with the financial penalty attached to field storming. The Big 12 enforces a $50,000 fine for fans rushing the field, a rule Sanders clearly had no time for. “What is it? 50 what? For rushing the field? How is it 50 thousand for rushing the field? Who made that a rule? Come on, man. That ain’t right,” Sanders said during his postgame comments. Then, with a grin and a shrug, he added, “We can chip in. Let’s chip in … Wow. 50 grand. All right, next question.”

His bemused take on the fine and the antics that followed show how well Sanders understands the college football environment he now leads. He gets that passion sometimes spills over. He knows that when fans believe again, things get wild. But he also knows that passion without control can get costly.

For now, Coach Prime is letting his team and his fanbase ride the wave. Colorado is relevant again, the fanbase is all in, and even a $50,000 fine can’t kill the vibes in Boulder.
