Colorado head coach Deion Sanders is heading into his third season at the helm, but it will mark his first season in Boulder without his sons Shedeur and Shilo Sanders.
It will also be his first without two-way star and 2024 Heisman Trophy winner Travis Hunter, who played a key role in the team going 9-4 this past season. While Sanders has expressed confidence that this year's team is more talented and complete than last year's team, he is still making sure they live up to the standard of those set before them.
The Buffs had a scrimmage over the weekend, as the team looks to settle position battles at quarterback, offensive line, wide receiver and corner. While plenty of highlights emerged, Sanders was clearly not pleased with his team's performance as shown in a video that surfaced on X.
"If you perform like you performed in that scrimmage, they going to eat you alive," Sanders said. "You might as well...disconnect your social media. Cause now they kind. Do what you did out there in that scrimmage and see what they do. They gonna eat you alive."
Colorado has quite the following online with over 300,000 followers on X, over 1.1 million on Instagram and another 460,000 on TikTok. With that being said, when the Buffs lose it seems as if twice as many people come out of the woodwork to let them hear it.
The Buffs open the season in a primetime matchup against Georgia Tech. The game is scheduled for Friday, Aug. 29 and will air on ESPN at 8:00 pm ET.
