Deion Sanders's Post About Dillon Gabriel Resurfaces Amid Shedeur Sanders Draft Slide

Colorado QB Shedeur Sanders has been the goat of the 2025 NFL draft, and not in the good way, as he has fallen through the first three rounds after beginning draft season in the discussion as the potential No. 1 overall pick.

But it's gotten a lot worse for Sanders family than that over the past 48 hours, including for patriarch Deion Sanders who made an X post back in December involving his son and Oregon QB Dillon Gabriel.

The Cleveland Browns were considered a suitor for Shedeur Sanders either at the top of the first round, the top of the second round or via a trade to get back into the end of the first. Instead, the Browns selected Gabriel with the No. 94 overall pick in the third round, making him the fifth QB to come off the board ahead of Shedeur Sanders.

An X account posted a side-by-side of Shedeur Sanders and Gabriel, noting the similarities in their traditional counting statistics that included passing yards, touchdowns and interceptions.

Deion Sanders reposted the original post with a two-word caption: "Lawd Jesus!"

The strong implication was that despite somewhat similar numbers (Shedeur Sanders' were better than Gabriel's, though not overwhelmingly), Gabriel didn't belong in the same conversation as Shedeur Sanders.

That post, and its incendiary caption, resurfaced on Saturday, April 25, after Shedeur Sanders watched the Browns select Gabriel ahead of him.

ESPN's Mel Kiper Jr. predicted at the end of Day 2 that Shedeur Sanders will be a fourth-round pick. The Pittsburgh Steelers and Los Angeles Rams could both still be looking for QBs on Day 3, though the Browns, New York Giants (Jaxson Dart) and New Orleans Saints (Tyler Shough) already have their rookie signal callers.

The Tennessee Titans (Cam Ward) and Seattle Seahawks (Jalen Milroe) have also already selected QBs.
